FAQ

Q. How can I remove harmful chemicals from my water?

A. Water is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and it is recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water (8oz) a day to keep ourselves properly hydrated, but when the water contains other chemicals or ingredients, what can you do?
Adding more chemicals to the water supply to combat contamination and infection, only adds to the problem as these remain in the water and have their own side effects. Water filtration is the best way to remove such chemicals. Reverse osmosis passes pure water through a membrane and is the most effective solution when purifing and polishing water for consumption.

pura vida h2o's proprietary five stage filtration system has a reverse osmosis component which works by forcing water through a selective membrane keeping the contaminants on one side and allowing water molecules to pass through to the other. This process removes up to 99% of all contaminants.

Q. Where do plastic bottles go when they are empty?

A. There are three places where water bottles go most often after use:

  1. Landfills
  2. Littered, adding to environmental debris
  3. Recycled into another useful plastic product

Here is a list of plastic bottle facts that put the magnitude of this pollution into scope

  • Plastic bottles take 700 years to begin composting
  • 80% of plastic bottles are not recycled
  • 24 million gallons of oil are needed to produce a billion plastic bottles
  • The average American consumes 167 bottles of water a year
  • Bottling and shipping water is the least energy efficient method ever used to supply water
  • Bottled water is the second most popular beverage in the United States

We consume enough bottled water to fill every inch of office space in both towers of the (now non-existent) World Trade Center, from floor to ceiling, every 11 days.

Q. What is bpa?

A. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical building block that is used primarily to make polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastic is a lightweight, high-performance plastic that possesses a unique balance of toughness, optical clarity, high heat resistance, and excellent electrical resistance. Because of these attributes, polycarbonate is used in a wide variety of common products including digital media (e.g., CDs, DVDs), electrical and electronic equipment, automobiles, sports safety equipment, reusable food and drink containers like bottled water, and many other products.

Q Where does the water in pura vida h2o units come from?

A. pura vida h2o units reduce the environmental footprint of drinking water on-the-go by maximizing existing water infrastructure (municipal water) and polishing it on-site. Municipal water is treated through our 5 stage proprietary purification process before it dispensed at 42 degrees right into your canteen.
